In a competitive environment, as an inherent aspect of our nature, we frequently encounter critical junctures in our business endeavors.

Regardless of a business's complexity, size, diversity of operations, or investment amount, any factor that impacts our ability to sustain the company in the future or enhance its conditions is significant. We often seek guidance from our Board of Directors, external advisors, and fiduciary consultants. Or, in the absence of these options, the Guild authorities. These entities may possess tools or individuals with expertise who can illuminate the path forward.

Throughout my tenure as a member of the Board of Directors of the Hotel Association in Colombia and as an official responsible for operations for over four decades, I have gained firsthand experience. Through my colleagues, friends, and guests at various conferences, meetings, and fairs, I have witnessed an undeniable reality. Engaging in this industry is more typically driven by passion rather than a comprehensive understanding of its intricacies.

The hospitality industry encompasses a diverse range of services that we all regularly utilize, including our own homes; food and beverage services, which are essential for our sustenance; events and conventions, where we frequently host meetings; and complementary services such as laundry, business centers, gyms, and entertainment options.

From this perspective, we have acknowledged the persistent challenges that have accompanied our extensive and challenging career, which we have shared with numerous Latin American countries, including Colombia, Panama, Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Costa Rica. These obstacles have been both intriguing and demanding, yet they have also been encouraging, fostering personal, professional, social, and community growth. We have consistently achieved and surpassed our objectives in each of our projects.

As a professional in this dynamic sector that offers experiences and anticipates consumer preferences, you may be curious about how goals are achieved. Goals can be set based on historical records, market indicators (such as those of the most competitive businesses), or in comparison to international standards. A Balanced Scorecard is defined, which serves as the basis for periodic monitoring (daily, weekly, or monthly).
